What is APF Rising Stars?

The APF Rising Stars list honors individuals changing the world in the spirit of APF’s mission to build bridges, open minds & empower communities.

The American Pakistan Foundation recognizes that Pakistani Americans across the country are making significant contributions to their communities with local, national, and global impact. From essential workers during the pandemic, journalists on the front lines of current events, and public servants in every tier of government, individuals in our communities are rising to the occasion, and in doing so, leaving a valuable imprint on American and Pakistani society. We hope the APF Rising Stars list will highlight the important work of our communities to each other and for a broader audience.

 
 
 
 

Theme

The theme for the 2023 APF Rising Stars list is “Women Who Soar.”

In recognizing the professional and personal commitments and exemplary leadership of Pakistani American women, we aim to celebrate the many ways they rise to the occasion to excel in their professional and personal pursuits, empower others, and give back to their communities.

Criteria

APF Rising Stars are leaders who:

  • foster dialogue and takes action related to build bridges, empower communities, and open minds;

  • cultivate unity and diversity;

  • build spaces to explore and engage with our cultural heritage;

  • value and respect diversity of opinion by engaging in productive dialogue and constructive criticism; and

  • have achieved extraordinary professional milestones

How We Decide

Nominations may be submitted between August 2 - October 14, 2022.

  • Final selections will be made by a nominations committee comprised of APF members and staff.

  • Final selections will be made based on criteria outlined above and phone and/or Zoom interviews with candidates.

  • Final selections will be announced by April, 2023.
