APF Asia Society Fellowship

The American Pakistan Foundation (APF), in partnership with the Asia Society Policy Institute (ASPI), is pleased to launch a 6–8 week summer fellowship for students and early-career professionals interested in policy, research, diplomacy, and South Asia.

This fellowship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at a leading global policy institution while engaging deeply with South Asia–focused research and programming. Fellows will work closely with ASPI’s South Asia team, participate in high-level policy discussions, and receive mentorship from experienced practitioners in international affairs.

The program reflects a shared commitment by APF and ASPI to invest in the next generation of American Pakistani leaders and to strengthen pathways into global policy, diplomacy, and international institutions.

Who Should Apply

This fellowship is ideal for individuals who:

  • Are undergraduate or graduate students, or early-career professionals

  • Have a demonstrated interest in international affairs, public policy, research, or South Asia

  • Are seeking practical experience in a policy or think-tank setting

  • Are motivated to contribute to U.S.–South Asia relations and global policy dialogue

  • Applicants must be able to obtain academic credit from a U.S.-accredited institution and commit to active participation throughout the fellowship period.

Fellowship Format

  • Duration: 6–8 weeks (June–August)

  • Mode: Hybrid (combination of in-person and remote engagement)

  • Location: New York City, at Asia Society Headquarters

What Fellows Will Do

Fellows will contribute to ongoing South Asia–related policy and research projects, support events and programming, and engage with ASPI staff across departments. Each fellow will complete a final written policy-focused deliverable and present their work to APF and ASPI at the conclusion of the program.
